I first performed the stand-alone Refuge and Bodhicitta Vow ceremony (outside of a Vajrayāna empowerment) in the tradition of Nagarjuna at the conclusion of teachings given by Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche in a large group setting in Kathmandu, Nepal, in October 2015. In August 2018, I requested and took the Refuge and Bodhicitta Vows in a private ceremony with Semo Saraswati Rinpoche before Kyabje Chatral Rinpoche's kudung stupa in Pharping, Nepal, receiving Padma Jangchub as a refuge name. +
Took bodhisattva vow from H.E. Pema Kalsang Rinpoche in 2007, in Dzogchen Monastery, Tibet.
Took two years' temporary celibate Upasaka vows (tshang spyod dge bsyen) from Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche in 2013 & 14. +
Summer 2008, I received bodhisattva vows from Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche.
Approximately all of the year 2014 I observed celibate upasika vows (Tib. tshangs spyod dge bsnyen), which were given by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche with a duration of one year.
April 2018, I received the general five upasika vows from Drubpon Tsering Rinpoche. +

After I completed the recitations of the refuge vows, I asked Lama Dawa to guide me on the next step of the path. In 2006 I met with him and Orgyen Rigdzin. Lama Dawa asked a series of questions and I felt as though I were answering them wrong, but at the end Lama Dawa gave me another set of recitations to complete and that was it. I did feel inadequate for assming a huge responsibility as if the well being of all sentient life was now in my care. Honestly if I can just remember to awaken bodhicitta in the morning and dedicate any merit to all beings in the evening at least I have done some small modicum of good. +
