+|letterofmotivation=I am writing to express my sincere motivation to join the traditional Three-Year Retreat at Karme Ling which was stablished by the late Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche under the request of 16th Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, and now is under the guidance of Lama Lodro Lhamo, and to kindly request consideration for financial support from Tsadra Foundation.
+I first found meaning in the Dharma when I was about 13 years old and was lucky enough to meet Lama Tartchin personally.  At the time, I was feeling deeply sad and questioning why people who worked so hard often struggled so much, while I—someone who had never done much beyond going to school and hanging out with friends—had so many things and lived a good life. Lama Tartchin said to me, “Instead of being upset about that, why don’t you do something truly meaningful with your life to help others?” That one sentence opened my heart and a deep conection and trust on Lama Tartchin raise. Now I’m 27 years old, and it’s been over a decade since I took refuge with Lama Karma Tartchin. Since then, I’ve done my best to help the Dharma Center, study and practice the Buddha Dharma. For many years I have helped as a cook, mantainer, transcriber, manger in the Dharma Center, as well as joined some group retreats and also have done a few individual retreats, as mentioned in the application.
+At this point in my life, I truly feel that entering the Three-Year Retreat is the most meaningful thing I can do. I know it will benefit me—both in the short and long term—and will also benefit my friends, my family, and even people and sentient beings that I don’t know if I do my best to use this time in retreat to learn well the Dharma and practice deeply.  I genuinely aspire to deepen my practice in the Three Years Retreat and beenfit beings as much as I can as Lama Tartchin and Lama Lodro will tell me afterwards. I also know in my heart that this decision would make my precious Lama Tartchin very happy as for the past 20 years, he has worked tirelessly to sustain Karmapa’s activities in Brazil and to have students who genuinely wish to deepen their Dharma study and practice is something I believe would truly bring him joy.
+It feels important to share that I’ve already quit my job and in from october 2024 to june 2025 I led two pilgrimages to India and Nepal and also stayed in both countries to recieve teachings and do retreats in sacred places. So, I don’t have any major obligations with work or family—aside from my mother, who supports me and is happy with the path I’ve chosen.
+I deeply appreciate your time and consideration.
