From winter 2002 till winter 2008 I lived at the Garchen Buddhist Institute. During those six years about three and a half were spent in retreat. During the rest of the time I worked for the institute in whatever capacity I could. The work consisted mainly of helping build retreat cabins including the three year retreat facility, doing whatever maintenance was possible and helping cook for and feed the Sangha when they would gather for programs.
Since leaving the Garchen Buddhist Institute in 2008 I have, at Garchen Rinpoches direction, begun teaching Dharma, mainly at The White Lotus Society in Rochester NY. I have given talks on various Buddhist topics and lead multiple meditation retreats. +

As a volunteer I've designed and made myself different folding Mandalas, thrones, shrines and so forth out of wood for many Drikung Kagyu centers in the US, Germany and Russia:
1. Vajrakilaya Mandala for Annual Vajrakilaya Drubchen 2013 in Drikung Kagyu Center in Moscow, Russia;

In 1996 I hosted Geshe Tsulga in my home to help Kurukula Center save money to buy a house for their, now very successful center, in Massachusetts. A center that received His Holiness Dalai LamaÃs visit and blessings during three visits. I also help the center to set up for teachings together with other practitioners, and hosted our group for a refuge ceremony in my apartment.
In years 2011 and 20012, prior to my first three year retreat, I served KTD in New York as Chopan and Gompa administrator. The responsibilities where various, such as, making offerings every morning at 4am or 5am in the main shrine, libraryÃs shrine, and Lineage Shrine, about 96 water bowls, then I closed all shrines every afternoon, before attending Mahakala Puja. I did this on my own for 8 months, and after that, I finally got an assistant to alternate with for about 5 moths thereafter. When we had big events, I had some of the participants help make this offerings, after giving them a thorough training. They were all wonderful and happy to gain merit by making water offerings and other shores.
I was also in charge of setting up the main shrine for all religious events scheduled every weekend, as well as, a week or ten day programs. these programs included, Drupchu, Nugnye, KarmapaÃs visit, special guests, such as Khandro Rinpoche and others, Tibetan New YearÃs 7 day Mahakala Puja, Tsendring, and subsequent ceremonies, as well as other events related to Buddhism. All with the amazing help of wonderful volunteers and housekeeping staff at KTD.
I also, coordinated all volunteers to the Gompa on an ongoing basis, and work with senior management to make sure all events will run smoothly and as flawless as possible. Many times, I had two or three events happening simultaneously in the Gompa.
All this service at KTD was done with love and care for the Buddha Dharma, and to prepare for my first three year retreat that began in the fall of 2012 and ended in India, under Tai Situ Rinpoche, in the Spring of 2016.
Now I work, part time for The Tibetan Center in Kingston, NY., for a fraction of what my professional salary would be.
