Throughout the years I’ve been drawn to all sorts of community work starting in high school
volunteering at homeless shelters, 2 years of Americorps working with refugees and immigrants from southeast Africa in Minnesota. I have helped with youth groups and big brother big sister projects. I have done Art therapy volunteer groups for various projects throughout the last decade. I have worked with folks with different abilities as a job but also volunteered with groups that bring isolated individuals together. +
Since the Pandemic breakout, I have been helping to mitigate the COVID 19 crisis as a physician and an assistant in Buenos Aires Argentina.
I helped in many ways, from doing triage for ill patients at primary health care clinics, to putting vaccines and bandage wounds especially when we were short-staffed.
I went door-to-door in the most poorest and worst-struck neighbourhoods looking for possible infected patients to take them to testing and treating facilities. I also handed out food and water supplies for families to be able to withstand the pandemic in their houses. I also helped, when necessary, to relocate people to designated hotels in order to stop the chain of infection in the place where they lived. This is because families had to share communal bathrooms and kitchens with many others.
Besides participating in the process of assessing infrastructure, health and living conditions of people with needs I have also participated in the testing teams for COVID-19 +

Since I was nineteen I have engaged in community work projects in different countries.
I always like to be part of community projects, either by volunteering or by offering my support.
As my training is in youth psychology and education, my heart is always involved in projects to help improve the situation of children under risk, at the same time of contributing to the shift in education I believe the world needs.
I have been in India, in Panama and in Perú working with disadvantaged children.
The most amazing one was in Panama, where they offered dance classes and school support to children that would otherwise be spending their time in very dangerous neibourghoods filled with wapons and drug dealing.
I believe there is a lot of goodness that can manifest through offering children in need the love and care they deserve, and the tools for their appropriate development: nature, free play, responsiveness and the right stimulation at the right time. +

My service, as related to Buddhist service, has been serving communities in duress/high risk. This service has continued as part of my present career as a psychotherapist since 1998, and before the completion of my Degree at Naropa University. The communities I worked with have spanned a wide range in the field of mental health, such as: Homeless Shelters; at risk youth in specialized school environments; residential treatment centers focused on severe and persistent mental illness; and working with families, children, teens, and adults as a Psychotherapist. +

Not in a systematized way in general, in school sometimes I participated in charity programs, in college we also did a brief project of a choir performing in that context too.
I also became a music teacher in part as a way to contribute to others and the community at large through my work.
On a personal level, I always try to give whenever I can, regularly to the firemen (in Chile they are volunteers so they depend on donations), or people on the street. This year I have also been donating blood, making sur offerings regularly, and donating books to the city's library.
Sometimes I have personally financially supported certain people who are in need, mainly homeless people, very poor people or people with serious health conditions, so they can have their basic needs met or get
something specific that they need, like a place to live, a stove to cook, medical treatment,
etc. That has happened in a more spontaneous way, first meeting them on the street, knowing about them, and so on. +
