I have done a 100-day retreat in a cave in the region of Langtang in Nepal. Mingyur Rinpoche agreed to my request for permission and blessings to do a retreat in nature. He told me to go to this particular cave, where he had stayed for a period of time during his wandering retreat. The cave is located at an altitude of 14,760 ft, at a 7 miles distance approximately from the village of Kyanjin Gompa (12,660 ft), which is the last stop from a trekking trail in the region of Langtang in Nepal. During my retreat, I went into town only once. This was after 40 days with the sole purpose of gathering more supplies. My retreat comprised of the first unique preliminary practices of Refuge Bodhicitta and Prostrations over 3 sessions a day, the first session lasting 3 and a half hours, with the other two being around 2 and a half hours each. In between and after these sessions, I have done Nature of Mind practice, according to the three-fold presentation of Dakpo Tashi Namgyal, given in Moonbeams of Mahamudra as transmitted by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche at Palpung Sherabling Monastery in India. Unfortunately I have not kept a formal record of the number of hours I have done of Nature of Mind practice during this part of the retreat, but roughly speaking it amounted to about an hour a day. After finishing 111,111 prostrations, I spent the remaining time of the retreat doing Nature of Mind practice 5 sessions an hour and a half each.  +
