* During the 2005-2009 retreat I posted and distributed flyers in Manhattan to attempt to fundraise for the retreatants. I am not sure it helped monetarily but the flyers were pictures of the Guru Rinpoche statue at POL so at least people saw that if nothing else.
Pema Osel Ling
* Repaired tsa tsas for the Stupa at POL.
* Assisted with tsok set up and clean up when needed at POL
Losar 2009:
* Assisted the Chopens
* Made siddhi pills
* Cleaned a lot of things (most of which were covered in butter)
* Helped with Tsok preparations
Service while in Retreat:
*I have been using my technological skills in video and sound editing to help make instructional information readily available for our retreat. When it's needed, I use time between sessions to complete projects ranging from digitizing audio to documenting Rinpoche's torma techniques.
*I recently edited an audio recording of Rinpoche doing Middle Length T'hroma into individual tracks so that we can practice and learn the yangs. We are also currently using the tracks for our group pujas. It is very important to Rinpoche that we learn the melodies precisely so we are following his recording until we are ready to Umdze ourselves. Editing the puja was helpful because it required that I to listen to the recording over and over again. I starting learning the melodies and the sadhana just by making the mp3s. +

After completing the training levels at Phoenix Shambhala center, I volunteered in various capacities: staffing the events, leading dharma recovery group, cleaning, cooking for the events, coordinator/master of ceremonies, umdze. All in all, I did this for about 2 or 3 years. During my stay at Gampo Abbey, as a temporary monastic for 9 months, I was one of the cooks and also fulfilled a variety of required roles. Following that, I mostly practiced on my own and helped out online due to Phoenix Center being physically closed because of COVID for about a year. Currently, I've been a work-study at Garchen Buddhist Institute for over a year, beginning in May of 2021. +

This summer I served as the teaching assistant for the Buddhist Studies Summer Program at Gomde California, offering emotional and logistical support to students. In 2023 I organized a group of college students to attend Phakchok Rinpoche's teaching at Harvard University, and organized a talk at my University by one of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's close western students. Since spring of 2024 I have attended meetings for Dharma Gyan International Youth Association, and helped to brainstorm with other members of the organization about how to develop the group in accordance with Rinpoche's aspirations. I am currently working with another member of the group to build a website for Dharma Gyan Youth. During Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's summer seminars at Gomde California the last three years I staffed their shop selling ritual items to Sangha members on behalf of the center. I have also helped Gomde set up and take down their large number of furnished canvas tent-cabins before and after their annual Summer program. During summer programs, I have helped with washing dishes and cleaning the back-kitchen on a daily basis. +

I have been volunteering at Ganden Choekor Mountain retreat center in Switzerland since 2014 and as long as that have I started to offer translation work for centers, expecially a local center in Bern and later on at Ganden Choekhor. I haven been doing simultaneous as well as block translation and look at receiving a Sakya Lama from the USA, Tulku Jigme Trinley Rinpoche, in September to travel with him around Switzerland and translate for him at every place he teaches. I consider having brought interested people closer or into the Dharma to be my most joyful service to Dharma, one such friend now lives in Dzogchen monastery, Kham, Tibet and is just one example. I also lead a female friend of mine into sitting practice as she had asked me to assist her. Finally every single moment I watch my mind when amongst other people and able to observe the 5 poisons and not following habitual tendencies and instead just watch - I feel I am serving my Lama and Lamas the way they meant Dharma. +
In 1998-1989 - volunteered for approximately 12 months at a residential treatment center where the model was Buddhist by design and designated the “Wind horse model”. I also later worked there as a Team Leader. The Wind horse model was structured by Trungpa Rinpoche (and Baker Roshi), and with help from a student of Trungpa Rinpoche Edward Podval, MD, Psychiatrist (I think those are the major players). The treatment center was called “Friendship House” and held an interest within the Buddhist Community, where members of the Naropa community also volunteered. It is/was also located in Boulder, Colorado. Presently, I am a Practicing Psychotherapist where I serve a portion of the community who have an interest in Buddhist practice/ meditation. +
