Most relevantly, the Shangpa Kagyu three-year retreat at Dechen Gatsal Ling at Bokar Monastery, Mirik, India: Feb 2005-Sept 2008. Most recently, in the process of three months of personal retreat at Ser Cho Osel Ling, Goldendale, WA to end Sept. 9th. Several additional retreats of a month or less over the years, as well. +
I've been unable to get time to complete a month or longer retreat but I have been the on-site manager for all of KCC's retreats since 2010. This includes numerous month and two month retreats and SCOL's first ever One-Year Retreat. Having seen firsthand the rigors and joys of retreat and the myriad ways that different practitioners' retreats unfold leaves me as clear eyed as possible about long retreats without actually having sat one personally. +
I completed a one year retreat lead by Lamas Michael Conklin and Tara Goforth at Ser Cho Osel Ling in Goldendale, Washington, USA from March 30th 2013 to April 1st 2014. +
I have attended most of Lama MichaelХs retreats over the last 20 years
Of the North America Mahamudra Retreats taught by Lama Michael and Lama Tara from BC, 7 of perhaps 12.
At Bokar RinpocheХs advice, since 2003, I have done several month-long, solo personal retreats; a three-week retreat and many, many shorter ones of a week or so. I probably average 5 retreats per year, or more.
I have attended about 8 Mahamudra Retreats with Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche and Ven. Khenpo Lodro Donyo in India.
I have also attended several Zen retreats at Great Vow Zen Monastery, and done cloistered personal retreat there, at the invitation of the Abbots.
In the last several years, I have led 3-4 retreats a year at Ser Cho Osel Ling, KCC's retreat center. +
Several group/personal retreats at KDOL British Columbia, SCOL Washington State, & Mirik, India +
Several group and individual retreats at KDOL in British Columbia in Canada
Solo retreat in Sonada on two occasions, Pullahari, Boudhanath +
Not officially. It has been difficult to attend retreats longer than a weekend due to many responsibilities including managing the land where I live. However, I have chosen to live in semi-retreat, alone at home since 2010. It is semi-retreat because I have been working part-time and managing the land while practicing about two hours daily, meditating, chanting, reading and listening to Dharma CDs. Whenever possible I have attended monthly Sangha teaching/meditation sessions and weekend retreats in Eugene, Corvallis and Ashland OR. +
From 2010 to 2014, Four Year Retreat at Kagyu Samye Ling in Scotland under the direction of Choje Akong Rinpoche and Drupon Rinpoche Khenpo Lhabu.
During my whole life as Dharma practitioner since 2001 I have done between 15 and 30 days of solitary retreat nearly every year. +
