Grandfather Italian, fleeing from the mob moved to Brazil and changed his name. Paulo retrieved his original family name and got Italian nationality/passport for him and his son. Divorced, with wife and son living in France (son is 15). All support his plans to enter retreat. +
Mother grew up on a Kibutz in Isreal; parents met and lived in S. California; one younger sister who is a stand up comedian; brought up jewish with daily herbrew school on top of regular school; but family very open minded. +
mother student of LTR; grew up in the dharma community here, but with Rinpoche’s admonition that she not be obliged to participate… brother not practicing buddhist; Douglas Brodley was mother’s partner for a few years, and remains a close mentor and friend +
difficult youth (orphan - adopted); degree in music but after realizing it would not easily guarantee financial security self-taught IT setups in Mexico (computers, satalite dishes, etc); met Cameron and became manager of his ranch… +
