Yes, I first started volunteering two months after I visited our center, first helping with small tasks regarding preparation for puja and organization of events. I quickly took over more tasks, including all social media and communication, our YouTube channel, taking care of our guest house, cleaning the premises, and any tasks that my Lama needed.  +
Translation and Interpretation Work (2018-present): I have primarily served through interpretation and translation work on a voluntary basis. I began interpreting for Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's Annual Fall Seminars into Portuguese in 2018, starting with Drubpön Lama Tenzin Sangpo and Tomas Doctor. From 2019 onwards, I have interpreted for Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche during all fall seminars (except 2022 when I was in Brazil interpreting for Khamtak Rinpoche) and other teachings including summer seminars in Europe online. These have always been on a voluntary basis, although in recent years, interpreters have begun receiving donations from Shedrub Mandala. I have interpreted for Erik Pema Kunsang on multiple occasions, being his first interpreter into Portuguese and introducing him to the now-thriving Brazilian sangha. I volunteered as a backup interpreter during the annual Ngöndro retreat (2019-2020) and provided one month of volunteer interpretation work for the 17th Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje during the Arya Kshema Spring teachings in 2022. Brazilian Sangha Organization (2019-present): I created and manage a WhatsApp group for Brazilian practitioners connected with Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche (March 2019). There I started hosting monthly online group practice sessions of the Buddha Shakyamuni Sadhana of Mipham Rinpoche on the first Sunday of each month. After a break from 2022-2024, I received Rinpoche's full support and blessings to restart these practices. We also use the group to share information about teaching events within the tradition. Translation Projects: I have translated announcements and materials for Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's Shedrub Mandala and collaborated with Paula Rozing to translate RYI's chant book from English to Portuguese. Tara Triple Excellence Support (ongoing): I have unofficially supported Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's online meditation program through interpretation of live Q&A sessions into Portuguese, communication and marketing assistance. In 2018, I printed hundreds of program flyers at my own expense for distribution in Brazil. In 2024, I bought and brought products from Nepal to sell in Brazil for fundraising, which were handled by Paula Rozin (Portuguese program leader). The profits of this initiative will be destined for marketing campaigns of TTE in Portuguese and a possible 2026 visit by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche to Brazil.

This summer I served as the teaching assistant for the Buddhist Studies Summer Program at Gomde California, offering emotional and logistical support to students. Since spring of 2024 I have attended meetings for Dharma Gyan International Youth Association, and helped to brainstorm with other members of the organization about how to develop the group in accordance with Rinpoche's aspirations. I am currently working with another member of the group to build a website for Dharma Gyan Youth. During Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche's summer seminars at Gomde California the last three years I staffed their shop selling ritual items to Sangha members on behalf of the center. I have also helped Gomde set up and take down their large number of furnished canvas tent-cabins before and after their annual Summer program. During summer programs, I have helped with washing dishes and cleaning the back-kitchen on a daily basis.  +

I help Lama Migmar as much as I can while I'm in school -- I edited some talks of his for a book, help with publicity for his events, serve as his liaison to the Divinity School (e.g. getting tickets for his sangha for the recent visit of the Karmapa, which was quite a task, or else drafting email announcements, etc). Robert Thurman asked me to edit a book for Tibet House when I was at Columbia but he couldn't get school funding (and wouldn't accept when I implored him to let me do it for free). I help around Tsechen Kunchab Ling when HH is there, such as serving tea and food in the temple and bagging up and distributing tsok offerings. I made long life pills with Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche one weekend. I generally help when opportunities arise.  +

Tasks included gardening, cleaning, general construction, setting up the sound and translation equipment, making breakfast etc. 2020 July/Aug few weeks, GP - The center was having issues with their internet connection, being in such a remote location the wired internet was rather slow and temperamental. From late 2001 to 2009 I was buddhist facilitator in a New York maximum security prison. My role as a facilitator was to hold buddhist classes on a weekly basis, where a group of prisoners would meditate and watch recorded teachings by different buddhist teachers. For a period of about five years I also lead intense meditation retreats in prison, where a small group of prisoners would come and meditate from morning to evening. We were allowed to do these retreats once a month for a period from one to three days at a time. In March and April of this year I did some volunteer work in Gomde Pyrenees, and from August, 2021 I do volunteer work in Gomde Pyrenees, where I will stay until the retreat starts next year.  +
