Professional Activities

Lama Aria Drolma has been studying and practicing Tibetan Buddhism since 2008 and teaches at the affiliated centers of the U.S. She is trained in the Dharma Path program of progressive stages of meditation and contemplation for serious practitioner, a program offered by Kagyu Thubten Choling monastery.

Lama Aria Drolma is a graduate of the traditional Tibetan Buddhist three year retreat program at Kagyu Thubten Choling monastery and trained in the practices of the Karma Kagyu tradition, as well as practices from the Shangpa Kagyu and Nyingma traditions under the guidance of Venerable lama Norlha Rinpoche who is an accomplished meditation and retreat master and the abbot of Kagyu Thubten Choling Monastery in upstate New York.

Lama Aria Drolma graduated from the Mumbai University in India, with a B.A. degree in Sociology. Prior to her ordination she worked in advertising and public relations in NYC. Her career has spanned three continents and she has lived in Asia, Europe, Middle East and Australia. She is also an active volunteer for several nonprofit organizations, including as a fundraiser for breast cancer, HIV/Aids related issues.

Palpung Thubten Chöling Monastery (previously Kagyu Thubten Chöling) and Retreat Center was founded in 1978 by Lama Norlha Rinpoche in the tradition of Kyabje Dorje Chang Kalu Rinpoche. In addition to a daily schedule of practice, study and work, the monastery offers weekend seminars taught by Lama Norlha Rinpoche and special courses led by visiting Lamas. Since its founding, a major focus of Kagyu Thubten Chöling Monastery has been the three-year retreat program which was initiated in 1982 and offers training to serious students in the core teachings and practices of the Kagyu Lineage.
