These included teachings from Santideva, Nagarjuna and others. At the Kalachakra empowerment at Spiti, India in 2000, I received a very rare completion stage vajra master empowerment that authorizes me to eventually teach the Kalachakra completion stage to others if I can accomplish the other requirements through the practice of Kalachakra. I studied Kalachakra with Jhado Rinpoche for a week in Ithaca New York in 1999, a week in Dharmsala in 2000. At the Kalachakra teaching and empowerment in Washington DC, he asked me to return to Dharmsala to receive more teachings when I could afford to return. I studied the long Body, Speech, and Mind Kalachakra Sadhana with Pare Rinpoche over three months in 2008 where he transmitted the entire Kalachakra Body, Speech, and Mind Mandala Sadhana to me and commentary via a translator. Pare Rinpoche and Jhado Rinpoche are peers and did their long Kalachakra retreats together. In 2008, Pare Rinpoche was sent to Bloomington to assist in the passing of the brother of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, Tagtser Rinpoche. I attended other weekend retreats (Vajrasattva, White Tara, Medicine Buddha, and Prostrations to the 35 Buddhas) given by Pare Rinpoche in 2008. From His Holiness, I studied emptiness: from two texts of Nagarjuna in a teaching over a week in Paris, France in 2003; from ÃAtishaÃs LampÃ for three days in Bloomington in 2007; and from the ÃHeart SutraÃ for two days in 2010. From Geshe Lobten, I studied the Mahayana tenets, Buddhist epistemology and psychology, the 51 mental factors, middle way and mind only school views of emptiness every Sunday in two classes from 2007 to 2010. From Arja Rinpoche, I studied the Lam Rim from Tsong KapaÃs three volume treatise every Sunday from 2008 to the present. From Geshe Kunga, I have studied the Yamantaka teachings on ÃThe Wheel of Sharp WeaponsÃ every Sunday since 2010 to the present. From Father Francis Tiso, I attended a three week retreat on Milarepa and two several day retreats on various kinds of esoteric meditation each year since 2011. Since 2010, I have also attended other weekend or short week retreats given by Anne Klein (Dzogchen), Vesna Wallace(Kalachakra), Anam Thubtan(Dzogchen), Karen Patrick(Tsa Lung), Geshe Kunga(Chenrizig,shamata/vipasana), Arja Rinpoche and others.On my own, from 1999 to 2002, I spent half of each year studying general Buddhism, emptiness, the tenets, Buddhist epistemology and psychology and scientific models of the mind that were plausible and supportive of the Buddhist view; I made this study when I was not consulting. Since 2003, I have spent one to four hours each day studying aspects of Buddhism as represented by a subset of the books that I have used for this purpose and that I have listed in my Dharma Bibliography.
