So far I will rely on my (not substantial) personal savings for extra expenses. Nancy Huszagh, the drupon, has mentioned something about other scholarship possibilities though we haven’t followed up on that yet. Depending on the USD to CAD exchange rate the Tsadra scholarship of $1,000/month could be enough for the base amount of CAD$1,200/month. So far I have no sponsors or donors. +

I have been in retreat for five years now. I had savings for the first year (2015). In 2016 and 2017, Tsadra Foundation generously supported me. After that, my main source of financial support for the continuation of the retreat was and is The Kangyur Rinpoche Foundation. But it has become difficult for them to support me. Furthermore, I got recently transferred the amount of EUR 3 500,- which is the combination of some offering money, emergency money, health insurance and maybe tax reimbursement and will be and is used for the ongoing retreat. Additionally and in order to secure a basic health insurance and cover the grown medical expenses, I wrote to a Dharma friend who had voiced her wish to help with the retreat, but if she will do so and to which extent, is not yet clear at the present point in time. +
I don't really have fun financial support income except for what I earn now in DorjeDenmaLing (DDL), Shambala Center in Canada. Since I left my job as a dental surgeon in Ukraine in 2008 I haven't been really working anywhere else except doing volunteer work for different Buddhist centers, primarily for DDL. Most of the Centers do not pay for volunteer work. DDL would give a small stipend but it was enough for me to purchase travel tickets to move to another Dharma. It has only recently that the Canadian government asked DDL to pay minimum wage even though that would not be enough to really earn any money. And only this year DDL pays more than the minimum wage to the workers but I also support my Ukrainian family who is now in Portugal. So therefore I'm asking for this amount of money that could cover my airplane tickets when I need to leave Canada and go back to my family + the cost of the liturgies. Thank you for your support. +
A friend has offered 1,000
Another friend has offered to cover the remainder of the costs, whatever I am not able to raise.
So the goal would be to raise about 4,000 from friends. +
My husband will support me 7,800 USD.
I do not have personal savings, because I have not worked since 2008. I devote all my time to practice and translating dharma voluntarily without pay.
I wrote to some of my friends about my three year retreat, but they have not responded me yet. +
I will be working hard to save up as much as I can in the coming year and the years between retreat cycles.
I will also be exploring fundraising options. +
Two donors; and personal savings. +

I do have some personal savings, however, since I am retired my savings is all I have to
live on. I am receiving a modest retirement income from the State of California and a small
amount from Social Security. If you need specific amounts, please let me know and I will
provide you with the requested information. +
After four years of dharma study in India and Nepal with out any income I now owe my bank around 30.000 USD. Therefore, I am now selling my small share apartment in Copenhagen to pay my debt. My family has no money, and I have no personal sponsor for the retreat. +

Crowdfunding Initiative: My primary funding strategy involves a crowdfunding campaign in both English and Portuguese. As a symbolic exchange for donations, I will offer a Tibetan language course covering alphabet basics, recitation training, and common vocabulary. For more advanced students, I have compiled an extensive list of useful learning and translation resources. Since teaching Tibetan has been my main occupation for the past 2.5 years, I believe this will be an interesting and valuable addition to the crowdfunding campaign. I plan to promote this through social media and sangha networks.
Having recently received approval to join the retreat while completing my M.A. thesis, I have not yet launched this campaign and cannot predict the exact amount it will raise.
Personal and Family Resources: My family has indicated they could contribute 10-15% of the total retreat costs to help cover any remaining funding gaps after scholarship and crowdfunding efforts. Additionally, I have approximately $2,000 USD in emergency savings that could be accessed if necessary, though I would prefer to preserve this for post-retreat needs.
Funding Request: Given the extremely high costs relative to Brazil's socio-economic reality and our devalued currency against the Euro, and considering that I am just graduating without significant accumulated wealth, I am requesting scholarship support for 70% of the retreat costs (€25,900). Without having such a foundational guarantee, it might not be realistic to proceed with the retreat given the financial constraints. This scholarship would serve as the essential enabler that makes the retreat feasible, while I work to secure the remaining funds through crowdfunding and eventual family support. My goal is to minimize dependence on the scholarship through successful fundraising efforts, with any excess funds from crowdfunding being used to reduce the scholarship requirement, thereby allowing Tsadra Foundation resources to support additional practitioners.
I deeply appreciate your consideration of this application and the opportunity to pursue this transformative practice.

I can imagine some people may need a scholarship more than I do. I submit this application knowing this. I heard the Foundation encourages people who want to do a second three-year retreat.
I have personal savings, but that is all I have. No sponsors. I will receive a small pension starting July 2024. Given my age and my professional trajectory, it is uncertain whether I will easily find work in 2025 and 2027 - and after 2029 - to make up for the cost of this retreat.
Thank you. +

A handful of dharma friends have kindly offered to help support me throughout the retreat and their contributions add up to about 13 478 euros. The cost of shrine items (approx 1500 euros) has already been covered from offerings. My parents have generously paid for my flight to Gomde (around 1200 cad). I am bringing 2100 euros in cash to help with all the extra costs (hygiene items, offerings, medicine, all unexpected/emergency expenses). This amount came partially from offerings and partially from my savings. I have a little over 6000 cad in my bank account. The cost of visa renewals will be approx 300 euro/yr and health insurance is approx 500 euro/yr, which will come from my end. As I need to provide bank statements for the visa renewal process (although my parents are also my guarantors), there is some concern of not letting my account go too low as that could jeopardize my application. +
