For the personal expenses I will probably have family support or use personal savings +
R$60,000 (approximately USD 10,000) — Personal savings.
This amount will cover my living expenses from June 2025 untill the beginning of the retreat in September 2026.
At the present moment, I am not formally employed, as I am fully dedicating my time to completing the Ngöndro, studying the Tibetan language, and supporting Dharma activities. However, I expect to take at least 6.000USD from these savings to pay the retreat costs.
I will write to some Dharma friends whom I believe will be happy to sponsor my retreat or support me in some way, and I will also do fundraising to cover the remaining amount if necessary as well. +
My personal savings have finished and the sponsor supporting me will not be able to continue supporting me. At the moment, I have no personal savings, no income or pension. +
I will use 15000 USD from personal savings +
Right now, due to the pandemic, I had used my savings and only have enough money for my basic living expenses. I dont have personal savings anymore.
I hope I will save enough money or get sponsors for the rest of the expenses for the retreat (insurance, visa and trip) +
My current income is an apartment rental of approximately €200 per month. My personal savings will serve as proof of funds for the visa and will cover the costs of the visa, health insurance and other personal expenses (shrine items, airplane tickets, trips required for visa renewals, hygiene items etc). The account yield, along with the apartment rental, will cover about 40% of the monthly costs of the retreat—that is why I'm asking for 60%. I am also applying for the Khyentse Foundation Individual Practice Grant. I do not have other sponsors. +
My family has pledged $2,000 towards my retreat. In my personal savings account, I have the resources for $3,000 towards the retreat. +
Family and friends support +
I haven't got any other source of financial support. +
Personal savings: $ 5,000.
Money Market: $10,300.
Possible one time donations up to $1,000. not confirmed. +
Current savings $28,000. I plan to take Social Security after I turn 65 years old in October 2027 for approximately $2300 per month. +
My father is likely willing to provide some support if necessary, and I have secured roughly 1000 dollars in support from fellow sangha members as of the submission of this application. +
I have already paid $2,500 for the pre-retreat as well as $9,600 for the first year of retreat. This money came from my personal savings. Unfortunately, I do not have any family or sponsors that are able to help with the cost of retreat at this time. +
I will have a friend sending annual financial support of $1500. I don't have any other support at the moment. My teacher will cover all other expenses such as electricity, water etc. +
N
$300/month net rental income. +
As I mentioned in my letters, I am intending to go into 13 years of retreat, and splitting it into two halves. The first half is ngondro, saddhanas, and tsalung for 6.5 years.
As a monk, I have not been able to find any long-term sponsors for some years now. It is possible that I may have $1000 by the beginning of the retreat, but my finances are very tight. I often have to fast for some days as I run out of money for food. I am still looking and trying to raise funds for the retreat. If I am able to raise the funds, I will inform you. It is possible that one person may contribute $100 per month, but I am waiting for an answer. +
In my seventh month of this retreat, I have $14,582.45 in savings, or enough for a year more of this retreat. This is a net total remaining from approximately $8,600 in donations from friends, family, and sangha members; $6,093.18 (to date) from a GoFundMe campaign started to fund this retreat, and earned income from working as a translator and catering cook. These totaled $23,500 in funds raised so far, less about $7,871.76 in expenditures for the retreat underway. +
Note: Why I have requested more money than the full retreat cost, is specified in the PDF "Financial Situation".
With the work that I´m doing, I have managed to save 1500 USD up to this point.
Unfortunately, I have not met any sponsors within the Dharma community, or outside of it who are willing to donate. I have reached out to people, but because of the economic crisis, or because they do not consider the dharma as a noble cause, I have so far not succeeded
My family does not really understand why I have chosen the Dharma as the path I want to follow for the rest of my life nor my intention of doing a three year retreat. Nevertheless, even without comprehending it, they respect the decision I have made and have given me 1000 USD for it.
Thus, for now, I have saved around 2500 USD. Savings that I will gladly spend in the retreat cost fee, or in any other type of expense related to the retreat. +
Personal savings: 5 000 Euros
External support: 250 Euros per month, covering the entire retreat period : 10 000 euros
Total 15 000 Euros +

I do not have paid job since I moved to KTD as a volunteer 2016. By Oct 2017 I have spent all personal savings. I had medical expenses due to contriving Lyme from a tick bite. It was diagnosed 3 months later, at that stage treatment takes a long time and requires extensive supplementation. Once I run out of personal savings, I was offered a support of monetary donations, so I could continue to serve cooking in the 3-year retreat. I have been receiving $300-500 a month in donations, which I spend on health supplementation, dharma supplies and teachings, offerings, minimal personal necessities. The accommodation, food and Dharma teachings that take place in KTD and in Karme Ling are free of charge for the volunteers.
My sponsors are:
1. Anonymous members of Karme Ling community, international
2. My friends Peter and Jenia Brazchikovic, based in Brooklyn NY
3. My sister Anna and her husband Vasyl, based in Ukraine.
They are willing to continue the support during my 3-year retreat. +
